E. Bruce Adams, the son of the late Mrs. Eunice Adams and John Wesley Adams, is a native of Atlanta, Georgia. He received his elementary and secondary education in the public school system of Detroit, Michigan in 1971. Following the tradition of the men in his family, upon graduation from Henry Ford High School in Detroit, he moved south and matriculated at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. His education includes Morehouse College, Atlanta, Georgia, BA in Business Administration, 1971-1974, Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science, 1974-1975 and further studies at Morehouse College, Atlanta, Georgia, BS in Biology, 1980-1982.
The beginning of an exemplary career in the funeral profession of 38 years began with his Funeral Director and Embalmer’s License from the State of Georgia in 1976. He joined his family firm, Guyton Brothers Funeral Home in Bainbridge, Georgia being an understudy of his two mentors in the funeral profession, his grandfather, the late Eugene Guyton and adopted father, Benjamin Hatcher of Thomasville, Georgia. His employment in the funeral industry has come full circle. He started as co-owner of Guyton Brothers Funeral Home in Bainbridge, Georgia, General Manager of Sellers Brothers Funeral Home, Atlanta, Georgia, General Manager of Williams and Williams Funeral Home, Savannah, Georgia, and General Manager of Moffett-Speed-Smart Funeral Home, Savannah, Georgia, co-owner of Speed and Adams Funeral Home, Savannah, Georgia and is currently the owner of Adams Funeral Services Inc., Savannah, Georgia.
Mr. Adams is a member of St. Philip A.M.E Church and is Past President of the Georgia State Board of Funeral Directors and Morticians under Governor Joe Frank Harris. Mr. Adams is an active member of the Georgia Funeral Service Practitioners Association, National Funeral Director and Morticians Association, Frogs, Inc., Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and Masonic Lodge of Bainbridge, Georgia.
Amari A. Adams is a licensed funeral director and embalmer in Georgia and South Carolina. As the fourth-generation funeral director of the Adams Family, Amari strives to continue his family’s success and expound upon the relationships and professional reputation that have become the legacy of his ancestors.
Amari is a graduate of Sol C. Johnson High School class of 2007 and a graduate of Ogeechee Technical College with an associate degree in Mortuary Science. Prior to joining the family business of Adams Funeral Services, Inc., Amari pioneered the industry of music as being the youngest professional DJ in the state of Georgia. At the tender age of 14 Amari made an appearance of BET’s Rap City “In The Basement” with host Big Tigger and became a part of the Disturbing Tha Peace music label owned by world-renowned artist Ludacris. Amari A. Adams is also known as DJ Triple A “The Youngest DJ in GA.”
Since joining the family funeral business Amari has engaged in new relationships through networking and marketing to successfully grow the business by serving new client families and helping to productively rebrand and keep the business up to date with technology and new products to better serve families.
Amari is the father of two boys; Hamilton and Lincoln. He is the husband to Michelle Adams of 4 years and the proud son of E. Bruce Adams.
One of Amari’s mottos is to always “stay focused” and he always remembers what his father taught him as a little boy; “I can be anything I want to be, I can do anything I want to do. If it’s to be, It’s up to me.”
Michelle Adams was born on May 5, 1988, in Seoul, Korea to Mr. Benjamin Hamilton and the late Mrs. Sun Hui Hamilton. After her father's retirement from the United States Air Force, her family relocated to Mr. Hamilton's hometown of Savannah, Georgia. Michelle is a product of the Chatham County Public School system and attended Eli Whitney Elementary, Shuman Middle School, and Savannah High School. She is also a proud alumnus of Savannah State University where she obtained a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology in 2011. Michelle is the proud wife of Amari Adams and they have one son together with another on the way. With aspirations to join her family's business, Adams Funeral Services, Michelle became a student at Ogeechee Technical College enrolling in their Funeral Service Education Program in 2016. Michelle successfully completed and fulfilled all of the program, state, and national requirements and is now a licensed embalmer and funeral director in the state of Georgia and contributes to the continued legacy of the Adams family and their mission to provide Savannah and the surrounding communities the highest level of service, compassion, and respect in funeral service ministry that is offered in our area and beyond.
