Willie Jackson, 54, had his transition, Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.
A native of Richmond Hill, Georgia, he joined Cannon Missionary Baptist Church in Richmond Hill at a early age.
:Buddy"", as he was affectionately called, later moved to Savannah, Georgia and attended the public schools of Chatham County, and graduated from Sofronia Tompkins High School in 1973. After graduation. Mr. Jackson served his Country in United States Army from 1974-1977, receiving an Honorable Discharged. Later he attended Armstrong Atlantic State University. He was married to Melissa Middleton.
He was an Independent Truck Driver, a Funiture Builder, and he designed, rebuilded cars and sold them. ""Buddy"" was very gifted. Some of his other gifts included: Craftsman creations, photography, playing sweet melodies in his fluke, creating many beautiful paintings, cooking, and he was known for his famous cheesecake.
His parents: James Garfield Jackson, Sr., Sirfronia Whitfield Jackson and his brother Willie James Jackson, preceded him in death.
Survivors: brothers: James Garfield Jackson, Jr., Earl A. Jackson and Geneal G. Jackson, all of Savannah, Georgia; four sisters: Julia Jackson Pounds of Orlando, Florida, Gladys H. Lopez, Sadie A. Wiley and Mary D. Jackson, all of Savannah, Georgia; two aunts: Mae Bell Murray of Statesboro, Georgia and Elise Kent of Minneapolis, MN; sister-in-law, Pauline Jackson of Atlanta, Georgia; brother-in-law, Joseph Pounds of New York, New York; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
Visitation: Sunday, January 4, 2009 at Adams Funeral Services, Inc Chapel, 510 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah, Georgia, from 6:00pm - 7:00pm. Funeral service: 11:00am, Monday, January 5, 2009 at Cannon Missionary Baptist Church, Highway 144, Richmond Hill, Georgia. Mr. Jackson will lie in state at the church, the date of the service, from 9:00am until hour of service. Interment: Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, South Carolina, with full military honors.
