Tommy LeRoy Bruen, Jr

December 16, 1962 — May 9, 2009

Mr. Tommy Leroy ""Asheen"" Bruen, Jr., 47, a native of Savannah, had his transition Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, surrounded by his loving and devoted family and friends.

""Asheen"", as he was affectionately call, attended the public schools of Chatham County and graduated from Richard Arnold High School in Savannah, Georgia.
As a child, he was baptized in St. John ""The Mighty Fortress"" Baptist Church under the pastoral ship of Pastor, Matthew Southall Brown, Sr.

""Asheen"" moved to Atlanta, Georgia shortly after high school
where he joined the staff of Marriott Hotels & Resorts. He was a faithful and dedicated employee for over twenty years.

He was a person that was fun and full of love for his family and friends. ""Asheen"" has a smile that never left his face, and was always so full of laughter. If you truly knew ""Asheen"", then you know that he is most likely dancing in Heaven. He was also known to his family as the ""Dancing Machine"".

Mr. Bruen parents, Tommy LeRoy Bruen, Sr. and Catherine Holmes-Bruen; his maternal grandparents, Arthur ""Clifford"" Holmes and Elizabeth Holmes, paternal grandparents, Gus Bruen and Miriam Bruen, aunt, Elizabeth Inez Holmes, uncles, Benjamin Holmes, Clarence ""Piggy"" Holmes, Marion ""Lefty"" Holmes and Kenneth Bruen, all preceded him in death.

Tommy leaves to celebrate and cherish is memories: a very special friend, Leona Wright of Atlanta, Georgia; brothers: Kevin (Cynthia) Bruen, Rev. Keith (Bernadine) Bruen, both of Savannah, Georiga, and Tommy Jones of Bluffton, South Carolina; sister, Sharon Bruen (Donald) of Savannah, Georgia; aunts: Yvonne Bruen-Williams, Patricia Bruen-Simmons, Bertha (Mr. Frances)Bush, Mary Holmes-Simmons and Cassie Holmes-Gray of Augusta, Georgia; uncles: Arthur (Bertha) Holmes, Jr., Everett Bush, Arthur (Barbara) Bruen, Nathaniel Holmes, Chatham Commissioners James (Yvonne) Holmes, Hester Slater of Newark, NJ; nephews, whom he loved so much: Cedric Henderson of Warner Robins, Georgia, Josiyah Bruen, Joshua Bruen, Lamar Whigham of Wisconsin, and Randy Whigham of Atlanta, Georgia; nieces, whom he loved so much: Kavin Bruen, Erykah Bostic and Shakiemah Daniels; a host of cousins, other relatives, friends and co-workers.

Funeral services: 11:00am Saturday, May 16, 2009 at First Tabernacle Baptist Church, 310 Alice Street, Savannah, Georgia 31404, Rev. Clarence ""Teddy"" Williams, Pastor. There will be no viewing of Mr. Bruen before or after eulogy. Interment: Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Hunter Army Air Force Base, Savannah, Georgia 31405.

Family will be receiving family and friends at 1405 East 37th Street, Savannah, Georgia 31404.
