The Reverend Jessie Stephens, Sr.

Adams announces the passing of the Reverend Jessie Stephens, 84, who transitioned on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Select Specialty Hospital.

Reverend Jesse Daniel Stephens, Sr. was born September 19, 1934 in Sylvester, Georgia to the late Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Stephens.  On Tuesday, April 16, 2019 God called his servant from labor to rewards.

He was educated in the Worth County School system.  He moved to Savannah, GA in his early adulthood. He retired after working unselfishly for over 25 years at Gulfstream Aerospace.  He retired from the AME Church in 2010 after serving 41 years in the ministry. His pastoral appointments included 14 years at St. Peters AME and 27 years at Eulonia Circuit.  He was a member of the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance, Sons of Allen, Evangelical Ministerial Alliance and a member of G. W. Wade Lodge No. 19.

On October 17, 1959 he was joined in holy matrimony to the late Juanita Perkins Stephens.  To this union five children were born.  Reverend Stephens was preceded in death by his loving wife Juanita Perkins Stephens; one son, Hammad Zarif (Carl Sharron Perkins); two brothers, Willie B. Stephens and Edmond (Red) Stephens; a sister, Hattie Lee Stephens; two grandsons, Robert Ward and Romell Stephens; one great-granddaughter, Daniyah Williams.

He leaves to cherish is life memories: one son, Jesse Daniel Stephens, Jr. (Vida) of Savannah, GA; four daughters, Sandra Shields (Tommie), Brenda Stephens, Cynthia Stephens, Felecia Dudley (Chris) all of Savannah, GA; one brother, Robert Stephens of Albany, GA; two sisters, Minnie Maude Fowler and Charlie Mae Davis all of Albany, GA; one brother-in-law, James Perkins of Miami, FL; three sisters-in-law, Willie Mae McArthur, Josephine Tukes (Willie T.) both of Savannah, GA and Francis Perkins of Uvalda, GA; twenty-five grandchildren, Leon Tyrone Green, Jr. (Ursula), Kathy Roberts, Solomon Roberts, Ronnelle Stephens, Sr., Monica Green, Mustafa Muhammad, Jimmell Carter (Sojourney), Tenesha Crawford, Hamida Zarif, Gerald Williams Jr., Lakeisha Williams, Marcus Green, Sr., Marquis Carter, Dametria Stephens, Dametrius Stephens, Jaceme Famble, Dinesha Ward, Katrice Green, Jamille Bryant, Justin Stephens, LeeAshia Baker, Jessica Stephens, James Stephens and Jamie Stephens; forty-eight great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Adams announces Funeral Services which will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Bethel A.M.E. Church 1814 E. 38th St.

Interment: Greenwich Cemetery.

Viewing; Friday at the funeral home.
