Adams announces the passing of Saint Retha Mae Green Smith, 60, who transitioned on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Memorial Health University Medical Center.

Saint Retha Mae Smith, daughter of Geraldine Mikell Green and the late Jerry Green-Edwards, was born on June 06, 1958. She departed this life Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Memorial Health University Medical Center surrounded by family and friends.

She received her education in the Chatham County public school system, graduating from Groves High School in 1976 and later receiving her Nursing Assistant Certification from Savannah Technical College.

St. Retha Mae Smith joined the United House of Prayer for All People at a young age. She was a member of the Bailey True Praise Band at Rossignol Hill Mission. She was known throughout the Savannah District to render soul stirring selections such as “Hold On,” “Hallelujah,” and “Walk With Me Lord.” St. Smith was a dedicated worker who supported the Convocation works and was well known to play the snare drum and sing songs of praise to God’s glory. St. Smith has been a member of the Willing Workers, the McCullough Majestics, the Adult Ushers, the Savannah District Marching Band and the Spiritual Messengers. St. Smith has also served as President of Presidents of auxiliaries at Rossignol Hill Mission.

She was employed at Memorial Health University Medical Center for 31 years. Starting in the cafeteria, with drive and determination she obtained a position as a Wound Care Specialist. She was also employed with CareMasters as a Home Health Aide.

St. Retha Smith was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Green-Edwards; and her sibling, Dorothy Green.

She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories; her husband, Mr. Larry Smith, Sr.; her two sons, Mr. Larry Smith, Jr. of  Junction City, Kansas and Mr. Albert (Chris) Simmons of Jacksonville, NC.; one daughter, Ms. Charita (Nicky) Smith of Savannah, GA; her mother, Mrs. Geraldine Green of Savannah, GA; two brothers, Mr. Jerry Green Jr. of Savannah, GA and Mr. John Green of Ellabell, GA; one sister, Mrs. Elaine Ellison (Marshall); two grandchildren, Tamoni Stringer and Kayla Flowers; honorary son, Mr. Saladine Green; three special friends; Mrs. Henrietta Wright, Mrs. Barbara Williams, and Mr. James Saunders; nieces, grand-nieces, nephews, grand-nephews, cousins, United House of Prayer family; Memorial Outpatient Wound Care Clinic, Memorial Medical Center family and many friends.

Adams announces the Funeral Services for Saint Retha Mae Smith, 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the United House of Prayer For All People, 1805 Ogeechee Rd.

Interment: Greenwich Cemetery.
