Robert Hicks

July 22, 1944 — May 11, 2009

Mr. Robert Hicks, 64, had his transition Monday, May 11, 2009 at Candler General Hospital surrounded by his loving family and friends.

A native of Savannah, GA, he attended the public schools of Chatham County and graduated in 1963 from Alfred Eli Beach High School of Savannah. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he proudly served and received an Honorable Discharge.

Robert was an active member of the International Longshoreman Association, Local 1414 for more that seventeen years. He also was a member of the American Legion Post # 500.

He loved life and people. Robert left an Undeniable imprint on everyone he met.

Left to celebrate and cherish his memories: three daughters: Sabrina Jackson Carter and her husband Lloyd Carter of Jacksonville, FLA, Saran Hicks Williams and her husband Ali of Newark, NJ, and Margaret Elmore of Savannah, GA; grands: Corbin Carter, Cameron Carter and Alissa Williams; brother, Johnny Alston and his wife Gloria Alston of Savannah, GA; sister, Carolyn Brown of Savannah, GA; aunts: Anna Harris of Savannah, GA and Juanita M. White of South Carolina; a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service: 11:00am Saturday, May 15, 2009 at Second Arnold Baptist Church 1427 East 37th Street, Savannah, GA., Rev. Richard Hall, Sr., Pastor/Eulogist, Minister Craig Wilson, Minister Craig Alston, Presiding. Interment: National Cemetery, Beaufort, South Carolin with full Military Honors.
