Retired Presiding Elder Robert Lee Plummer, 96, transitioned on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Candler Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral service for Retired Presiding Elder Robert Lee Plummer will be held 11:00AM, Saturday, January 18, 2014 at St. Philip A.M.E. Church located 613 MLK Jr. Blvd.

Interment: Hillcrest Abbey West.

Public viewing will be held 10:00AM-6:00PM, Friday, January 17, 2014 at the funeral home.

Instate: 9:00AM.



OBITUARY:

Robert Lee Plummer, 96, quietly transitioned into eternal life
on Thursday, January 9, 2014. The son of a minister, he was
born in Scarboro, Georgia, on May 7, 1917. Elder Plummer
relocated to Savannah and became an affiliate member of the
Greater Gaines Chapel A.M.E. Church in 1948 where he was
called into the ministry. Following his call
in the Georgia Conference he served for 38 years, pastoring
nine churches across four districts. In 1986, Rev. Plummer
was appointed Presiding Elder in the Georgia Conference.
He served two Districts - West Savannah and Savannah.
In 2004, Elder Plummer retired culminating 56 years of
faithful service to God and mankind. Elder Plummer made
an indelible mark serving in several capacities as a community
advocate. Prior to his death, he served as an Associate Minister
of Greater Gaines Chapel and an active charter member of the
Hungry Man Club Forum, Inc. of Savannah. Elder Plummer
is preceded in death by the former Charlestee Wright
and Lillie Bell Cooper. He is survived by three daughters,
Linda Plummer; Sharon Plummer; and Carol Plummer
Gordon (Fred); six grandchildren; sisters-in-laws,
and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
