Mrs. Queenie Mae ""Phobeann"" McBride, 83, made her eternal transition Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at Memorial Health University Medical Center, surrounded by her loving and devoted family.
A native of Bluffton, SC, ""Phobeann"", as she was affectionately called, received her education from the public schools of Bluffton, SC and Savannah, GA. Mrs. McBride was a dedicated member of Macedonia Baptist Church for over fifty years where she sang in the choir for many years and was a faithful member of the Deaconess Board until her health failed. She was loved by all who knew her because of her lively personality and her sense of humor. She was a very loving and open hearted person, always willing to extend her loving hands.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie Simmons and Nancy H. Rivers.
Survivors: a daughter, Juanita Haynes Rivers of Savannah, GA; son, Jerome Haynes of Savannah, GA; granddaughter, Tesha Nedd (Wayne) of Atlanta, GA; great-grandson, Amari J. Rivers of Atlanta, GA; one niece, Lisa J. Bryan; two grand nephews David J. Bryan of Savannah and Douglas J. Bryan of New York City, NY; one great-great-grandniece and one great-great-grandnephew, both of New York City, NY; one special son-in-law, George Jones of New York City, NY; two special cousins: Joseph ""Murrary"" Rivers, II and Pearl Pinckney; a host of other extended relatives and friends.
Funeral service: 2:00pm, Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at Macedonia Baptist Church. Public viewing: Monday, August 18, 2008 from 9:00am-8:00pm at Adams Funeral Services, Inc., 510 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah, GA 31405. Visitation: Monday, August 18, 2008 from 5:00pm-6:30pm at the funeral home. In state: 11:30am until hour of ervice. Interment: Laurel Grove Cemetery, Savannah, GA.
