Adams announces the passing Mrs. Pasty Mae Barnard Johnson, 83, who transitioned on Friday, February 02, 2024 at her residence.
A Celebration of Life will be held 12:00 PM, Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Bryan Neck Baptist Church- 16525 GA-144, Richmond Hill, GA 31324.
Viewing will be held from 4 PM - 6 PM, Friday, February 9, 2024 at the funeral home.
Burial: Bryan Neck Baptist Church Cemetery.
OBITUARY:
Patsy Mae Johnson was the tenth child & the baby girl to Fred and Gracie Barnard. She was born on January 12, 1941. They knew they had a jewel because God blessed her with drive and plenty of energy. She was a quiet but very happy child growing up in the Barnard household. She had the responsibility of caring for the younger girls. She had to make sure their clothes were pressed, and their hair combed before they left for school or church. She was brought in the church and was baptized and a member of Bryan Neck Missionary Baptist Church. She and God had a special bond. She often said you have to put your trust in the good Lord. God called her from labor to reward on February 2, 2024, after a brief illness.
She attended and graduated from George Washington Carver School in Richmond Hill Georgia. After graduating not long after she became the apple of John Henry “Bells” Johnson’s eyes and the two were joined in Holy Matrimony. To their union God added seven children of which two preceded her in death. Patsy was creative and innovative upon entering the work force. She had varies Jobs some included working at the Piccadilly Restaurant where she was infamous for her buttermilk biscuits among other dishes. She was not a stranger to hard work. She worked at the fish hatchery cleaning fish and heading shrimp. Additionally, she was a farmer by trade. Gracie and Fred blessed her with a green thumb. She planted her field and prayed over it asking God to bless the harvest. She would always say that when you plant your field make sure you plant enough for the crows, the deer, your family, and any stranger that needs a good meal. She had such a given spirit and would give you the shirt off her back. Everyone who came in contact with her couldn’t help but to fall in love with her. She worked as a domestic engineer for many years. She totally believed in the scripture from Ecc. 9:10 Whatever you find your hands to do, do it with all your might...Being employed didn’t stop Patsy from being a homemaker and a devoted mother to her five children. It didn’t matter how tired she was she never negated to fix wholesome healthy meals for her husband and children. Family was important to her. She would go out her way to make sure all of her children was taken care of. She took time to teach all of her sons how to cook. She would say you need to be able to cook for yourself if you spouse got down sick. She taught the girls how to carry themselves with grace and dignity and be great mothers.
Patsy leaves to cherish her memory five loving children: John (Brenda) Johnson, Reginald (Valerie) Johnson, Sabrina Allen, Melanie Bongalon all of Savannah, Ga, Jimmy Johnson of Atlanta Ga. Special Sons Tyrone Brown, Brian Skivicki, Reginald Boyd, Bernard Allen, One sister Gracie (Harry) Greene, 4 sister-in Love Amy Barnard, Sue Joiner, Elaine Barney, Sadie Zimmerman one brother in love Jack Johnson. 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren 2 godchildren Janay Finch and Staci Blige. Special Friends: Kathy (Keith) Gregory, Fonda (Mike) Parker, Tine and Anita. And a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
