A graduate of Spaulding High's class of 1965, he excelled in sports, playing football, basketball, and baseball.

After retiring, he worked jobs at Georgia Pacific, Hunter Army Airfield, and Weyerhaeuser Paper Mill, after which he would retire and focus on serving the Lord as a member of International Bible Christian Fellowship- Savannah. As a member, he attended Kingsway Bible College, and upon graduation, assumed the position of Administrator of the program, which led to his ordination as Pastor.
