Adams announces the passing of Ms. Sara E. Abney Barnett, 83, who transitioned Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Inova Loudoun Hospital in Leesburg, VA.

Adams announces funeral services of Ms. Sara E. Abney Barnett which will be held 11:00 A.M., Monday, March 15, 2021.

Public viewing will be held from 2:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M., Sunday, March 14, 2021 at the funeral home via our drive-thru.

OBITUARY

Sara Edith (Abney) Barnett transitioned from this earthly life on Thursday, March 04, 2021 at approximately 7:36am at Inova Loudoun Hospital in Leesburg, Virginia with family at her side.

Sara was born on March 28, 1936 in Johnston, South Carolina to the parents of the late James Abney and Arzelle Andrews Abney.  She was the second born child of this union.  She joined her then almost 2 year old sister Grace Helen.

When she was just a toddler the family moved to Savannah, Georgia in 1941. Sara attended public schools in Chatham County and was a 1954 graduate of Alfred Ely Beach High School.

Other family members that preceded Sara in death: Three (3) sisters, Linda Boyd Stewart, Mildred Rivers, Grace Helen Barnett and One (1) brother Carnell Abney.

Sara leaves to cherish her memories: One (1) devoted and loving son, Rodney Barnett (LeRhonda); two (2) granddaughters, Dazsanae Williams (Vernon) and Jordin Barnett all of Ashburn VA; a special nephew and niece Craig and Terri Rivers both of New York City; two (2) brothers, James Calvin Abney (Jackie) of Savannah, Ga; and Roland H. Abney of Decatur, Ga; one (1) sister, Miriam Rodney (Algernon) of Ocoee, Fl; one honorary brother, Charles (Bunk) Black; two honorary sisters and best friends, Sarah Rogers Willacy and Josephine Jenkins; one godchild, Melissa Smith Martin all of New York City.  And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
