Ms. Lena Mae Virgil was born on November 20, 1942 in Jerrod, GA to the late Ms. Christine Jackson and the late Curly Cooper. Lena entered into eternal rest on August 31, 2018. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ms. Christine Jackson, her father, Mr. Curly Cooper, her husband, Mr. Joseph Virgil Jr, her brothers, Mr. Roosevelt Brown and Mr. Wilbert Cooper, her son, Mr. James Wayne Reed, her granddaughter Shameka Reed, and her grandson Marvin Hills.
Lena was educated in the Screven County School System. Her family later relocated to Savannah, GA. She was a member of Tree of Life Holiness Church where she received the gift of the Holy Ghost at the age of 20. Lena was united in holy matrimony to the late Alfred Reed. Their union produced five children. She was later united in holy matrimony to the late Joseph Virgil Jr. until his death.
Lena leaves to cherish her memory: her sons, Marvin (Lynn) Jackson, Alfred Reed Jr, and Gregory (Melanie) Reed all of Savannah, GA, her daughters, Sandra Carson, Patricia (Anthony) Jackson, Andrea (Edward) Mikell, Regina (Ernest) Middleton, of Savannah, GA, Niokia (Theadore) Wright, of Augusta, GA; her sister, Sacreta Cooper, of Savannah, GA; her brothers, Marvin Cooper, Archie Cooper, Willie Cooper, Curly Cooper Jr, James Williams, all of Savannah, GA; 27 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
**Adams announces funeral services for Ms. Lena Jackson Virgil which will be held 1:00 P.M., Saturday, September 8, 2018 in The Adams Chapel.
Interment: Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.
Viewing: 10 A.M.-6 P.M., Friday at the funeral home.
