Wanda L. Walker, born on March 10, 1952 to the late Angress Walker, Sr. and Grace L. Anderson Walker, passed away on April 14, 2016 in Atlanta, GA. As a native of Savannah, GA, Wanda attended and graduated from Savannah High School (class of 1969) and Savannah State University (class of 1972). She resided in Atlanta, GA for over 40 years where she where she received her Masters of Education (M.Ed.) from Brenau University and taught in the Fulton County School System for 24 years. She was a member and volunteer for service organizations including her sorority, Gamma Sigma Sigma, Savannah State National Alumni Association, Northwest Georgia Girl Scouts of America, and Georgia Council of International Reading Association. Wanda was a long-time member of Flipper Temple AME Church in Atlanta GA and proud participant of J.C. Williams Choral Ensemble and Art Guild among other church committees and activities. In recent years, she enjoyed traveling with her childhood friend Deborah Gay Pope on cruises and to many unique, exciting and beautiful places. Wanda will also be fondly remembered for her special sewing talents creating special occasion/prom dresses for her nieces along with wedding dresses and other clothing for friends and family.
Wanda leaves to cherish her memory her siblings: Angress Walker, Jr. (Ruthie), Mattie B. Johnson (Joseph), Mildred W. Jones, W. Malcolm Walker (Marcia), and Harry E. Walker (Debra); She will also be cherished by her nieces and nephews who she adored and treasured as her own children: Ronald Williams, Sherri J. Neal (DeAngelo), Tiffany N. Ellison (Kilo), Dr. Aisha L. Walker, Harry A. Walker, and Leslie W. Tyson (William); Great-nephews and niece: Bryce Williams, Gabrielle Ellison, and William Tyson, Jr.; and Godchildren: Clarence Tarplin, Jr., and Chauncey and Courtney Pope. She is also survived by a host of cousins, family, and friends.
