Evelyn Deloris Robinson, 74, transitioned from her earthly dwelling, to her heavenly home on Wednesday, September 21, 2016. Evelyn was born to Roger E. and the late Beatrice S. Robinson, Sr. in Savannah, Georgia on July 25, 1942.
The Home Going Celebration will be held Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the St. James A.M.E Church, 632 East Broad Street.
Family Visitation: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Jerusalem Baptist Church, 201 Baker Street.
Interment: Woodville Cemetery
She was converted and baptized at an early age at Jerusalem Baptist Church, 201 Baker St. Evelyn was a lifelong member of the Body of Christ at Jerusalem. She was a member of Jerusalem for more than 60 years. While at Jerusalem, she grew in faith and developed sincere love for God and people. Evelyn was educated in the Savannah-Chatham Public Schools. Early education at West Savannah Elementary School (presently Moses Jackson Center) and a 1960 graduate of Tompkins High School. She received her B.S. Degree in Business Education from Savannah State College (University) and M.S. Degree from Armstrong State College (University). Evelyn was employed by the Beaufort County School System for 30 years. After retirement from Beaufort County, she was employed by the Chatham County Youth Detention Center for 10 yrs.
She is survived by her father, Rogers E. Robinson Sr., two devoted nieces, Ebony and Felicia Robinson. Brothers: Henry (Sandra) Robinson, Claude (Sharon) Robinson, and Launey Robinson, all of Savannah, GA. Sisters: Victoria Robinson, Savannah, GA., Catherine (Julius) Harden, Sr., Starke, FL., Beatrice (Amos) Johnson, Sr., and Gloria (Mannie) Wright, all of Savannah, GA. Aunt Alberta Hamilton, New York City, NY; Uncle Cornelius Hamilton, Savannah, GA.; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, great grand nieces and nephews; faithful Goddaughter, J. Denitra Smalls, special son, Tommy L. Mobley, cousins, relatives, and friends.
