Obituary
“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” II Timothy 4: 6 – 8
Cynthia Elaine Roberts was born in Savannah, Georgia on February 20, 1965 and departed this life on September 4, 2016. She was one of five children of the late Mrs. Jessie Holmes Roberts Barker.
She was a graduate of A. E. Beach High School in 1983. She attended Armstrong State College and received an Associate degree from Savannah Technical College in accounting. She received the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age, and was baptized at First Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. During her teen years, she joined Christ Memorial Baptist Church along with her family. During her time there she served in the choir, Women of the Light Ministries, and the Sunday School.
Several years ago, Cynthia returned and renewed her membership with First Tabernacle, where she served as church clerk. During her time at First Tabernacle she served on the Grubbs / Anderson Mission Ministry, Adult Choir, Adult Class No. 2 Sunday School class where she also served as assistant teacher.
Being the wonderful cook and baker that she was, for several years Cynthia was the sole cook for the Wednesday Mid-day service. Cynthia was the “go-to” person for homemade cakes, cinnamon rolls, and good old country cooking.
