Ms. Celestine ""Sugar"" Hamilton Ruffin

Ms. Celestine Hamilton Ruffin, ""Sugar"" as she was affectionately called by family and friends, 76, was born on December 5, 1938, to the late James Hamilton and Elizabeth Edwards Smith.


Celestine retired from Belk retail department store, after 25 years. During those years her professionalism and customer service earned her numerous accolades. She lovingly supported her children, in all endeavors.


Celestine loved cooking, gardening, entertaining with her family and traveling and seeing new places.


She leaves cherish memories to one son: Nathaniel ""Tony"" Ruffin Jr, Savannah Ga; four daughters; Debi Ruffin Gul (Nowsherwan) of Birmingham AL, Susan Ruffin Smith, Natalie Cody and Regina Hendricks, all of Savannah. She leaves five grandchildren: Angel Martica Crouse, Eddie Donyel Ruffin, Brooke Nicole Hendricks, James Reginald Cody II and Michael Anthony Cody. Two great grand's: Aaliyah and Preston.
Celestine's siblings include sisters: Bertha Gibbons (Nathaniel), Sheila Raney (Floyd), of Savannah; brothers: Robert Lee Smith, Jr, ""Bo"" (Mattie) of Charleston, S.C., Marion Smith (Cynthia) of Bronx, N.Y. She was preceded in death by sister, Norma Jean Smith.


Funeral services will be held 11:00AM, Wednesday, April 15, 2015 in The Adams Chapel.

Interment: Whitehall Cemetery.

Public viewing will be held at the funeral home prior to the funeral servcie from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
