Life’s Sketches
On October 8, 1929 in Screven County Georgia, Lee and Annie Roberson
were thrilled when they welcomed their beautiful newborn baby girl, Birda Mae Roberson into this world.
Birda, one of ten children, was a delight to her family as she grew and matured to be the young lady that she became.
She was blessed to give birth to four baby girls, Catherine, Mary, Annie and Brenda.
Early in life she wanted a change and decided to move to Miami, Florida
to live. After moving to Miami, Birda met, fell in love with and married Timothy
Wright on April 23rd, 1959, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in
death were her parents, one daughter (Mary Summerson), two sisters (Luella
Daughtry and Josie McCall) and two brothers (Bennie Roberson and Billy Williams).
Birda believed in the love and power of Jesus Christ. In doing so, she was
baptized in the Bethany Seventh-day Adventist Church in Miami, Florida where
she served faithfully in many capacities for more than 40 years. Birda loved her
family and her church and enjoyed being a viable part of both.
During her lifetime, she worked as a housekeeper but studied and
completed training to become a Nurse’s Assistant. A proud accomplishment for
a proud woman. Birda was known for the way she dressed. Many calling her a
“diva” for the way she put her outfits together. Everything had to match.
On Thursday, December 7th, 2017 at approximately 1:30 am, surrounded
by her family, she peacefully fell asleep.
Left to cherish her memories are three daughters, Catherine Phillips, Annie Reyes and Brenda Saunders; three sisters,
Betty Roberson, Bernice Pierce and Gloria Roberson; two brothers, John
Roberson and Willie Roberson (Angie). 17 Grandchildren, Sean Phillips, Kathlena
Phillips, Erix Phillips, Monica Phillips, Octavia Reyes, Paul Reyes, Raphael Ali
Reyes, Joseph Reyes, Jimmie Reyes, April Reyes, Geraldine Reyes, Joshua Reyes,
Angie Montgomery, Berina Montgomery, Yolanda Pollock, Jaimie Montgomery
and Elijah Saunders; 29 Great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and
other sorrowing relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
