Adams announces the passing of Ms. Almeta Steele, 74 who transitioned on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Candler Hospital.
Almeta Esther Steele was born on Nov. 17, 1948 to Almeta Louvine Fields Steele and Willie Wilbur Steele, the 6th of 9 children in PortWentworth, GA
Almeta received Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age and had membership & affiliations with Brampton Baptist Church, St. Mary's Catholic Church; and during her latter years, teachings from Overcoming By Faith Ministries.
She graduated with honors from Sophronia M. Tompkins High School in the class of 1966 and graduated from Savannah State College (now University) in 3 yrs. with a B.S. degree in Biology, being frequently listed on the College Dean's list.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by 7 siblings: Lillie Steele Savage Coley, Sylvia, Hattie Pearl, Willie R., Chadwick, Wilbur and Earl Steele; 1 neice & 3 nephews: Siberia Sams, Andrew Savage, Frank Savage,Sr. & Kurt Coley.
Survivors: 1 sister, Joan Steele Hart-Savannah, GA; 1 brother, Timothy Steele-Moncks Corner, SC; 13 neices: Donya Hart Swinton (Jeffery)-Savannah, GA; Charonae Porter- Decatur, GA; Chieniekia Johns-Montgomery Village, MD; Almeta D. Steele Lorigan-Sterling Heights, MI; Earlia Steele-Ann Arbor, MI; Ruth Ogen & Jada Bausley-Detroit, MI; Dr. Lillie Coley-Blackwood, NJ; Edwina Savage Johnson, Shirl Coley Howard, Yvette Coley Ruff, Annette Coley Junior & Michelle Coley-Philadelphia, PA; 4 nephews: Deon Jones-Savannah, GA; Edward Savage, James Coley, Jr., & Joseph Coley-Philadelphia, PA also a host of relatives & friends.
