Mr. Willie Lee Hicks, Jr. (Puddin) was born on July 27th, 1953 to the parents of Mr. Willie Lee Hicks, Sr. and Mrs. OlaeMae Hicks Boatwright in Union Springs, Alabama. As a life-long resident of Savannah, Georgia, he attended and was educated in the Chatham County Public Schools. He received Christ at an early age and was baptized and Saint Paul CME Methodist Church, under the late Reverend Henry Delaney. Mr. Willie Lee Hicks, Jr. Retired from the United States Army as a Private First Class (PFC/ E-3), receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1981. Mr. Hicks also had an extensive background in Aviation Training at the Aviation Flight Center, in Birmingham, Alabama. After Honorably Discharging from the United States Armed Forces, Mr. Willie Lee Hicks, Jr. decided to embark his career field on the Savannah waterfront as a Longshoreman, PROUDLY working at the International Longshoreman’s Association, Local 1414, for over 50 years. Anyone that knew Mr. Hicks, Puddin as they called him, knew he loved operating the jockey trucks on the Ports from sun up to sun down, and every morning GOD Blessed him to see another day, he would always call his mother. On February 14th, 2016, Mr. Willie Lee Hicks, Jr. married Dione Danette Washington-Hicks, his devoted and loving wife. Puddin, known to many residents in the Savannah community, was a very helpful and caring person to all those whom ever came in contact with him. He truly loved people and loved showing happiness to everyone he encountered, that’s just who he was. Moreover, as Mr. Hicks drew closer to GOD, he had a favorite BIBLE verse he would always say every morning: Psalms (chapter 91, verse 2; “I WILL SAY OF THE LORD, HE IS MY REFUGE AND MY FORTRESS, MY GOD IN HIM WILL I TRUST”.
Mr. Willie Lee Hicks, Jr. (Puddin) was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Willie Lee Hicks, Sr., one son, Mr. Willie Lee Hicks, III (Sugarman), and one brother, Jimmie Lee (Catherine) Clark.

Mr. Willie Lee Hicks, Jr. (Puddin) leaves to cherish his forever memories with his loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Dione Washington Hicks, all his loving children, Cedric Tyrone Hicks (Brucie), Shanara (Anthony) Hicks Brown (Missy),Desmond Akeem Washington, Diondria (Justin) Lewis, Mardina Fowles, and Alexis Fowles. His one and only caring and devoted mother: Mrs. OlaMae Hicks Boatwright, one sister: Juanita Hunt, 6 brothers: Tommy Edward Hicks, Alfred Lee Hicks, Richard (Joseline) Hicks, Patrick Lee (Kim) Hicks, Kenneth Bruce (Tikia) Hicks, and Eric Bernard (Nedra) Hicks; two step-sisters: Kathy (Henry) Martin Andrews, and Stephanie (Brett) Martin; three step-brothers: David (Marilyn) Martin, Kevin (India) Hicks, Ronald (Lisa) Martin; mother-in law: Ms. Pearl W. Jackson; sister-in-laws: Diane Denise Washington, Delores Ann Washington, Christina (Keith) Williams, and Karen (Marvin) Washington Daniels; one brother-in-law: Jelani C. Jackson; two aunts: AdaMae (Leon) Peak and Minney Hicks; two aunt-in-laws: Prophetess Rosie Washington-Shellman, and Paula Brisbane; 18 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
