William Melvin Samuel 64, of Savannah Georgia was born on March 2, 1956 at Charity Hospital to the late Mr. William H and Sallie M. Johnson Samuel.  He was baptized as an infant at St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church and later became a member of The Most Pure of Mary’s Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharist Server and Alter Boy.
Education - He attended The Immaculate Heart of Mary Parochial School where he played as a linebacker for the Blue Devils. He was also a Boy Scout under the leadership of his father. William was a proud graduate of The Class of 1975 at Herschel V. Jenkins High School where he was a saxophone player and a member of the marching band, he was also a member of the math club. He often spoke of his experience as a high school student during the historic time of school integration. He told stories of his school having both a black and a white cheerleading team.  He would also share  how he would drive classmates without cars for a small fee, of course.  After graduating from high school, he attended Georgia Southwestern State College in Americus Georgia.
Career - He was employed with the Southern Railroad System for many years. He later opened his own restaurant in Millen, Georgia, serving the local community. William decided to expand his business and moved to Stone Mountain, Georgia to create a successful “Hot Lunch” program for students at St. Thomas More Catholic School.  The students and staff were so impressed with the food and service that it gave him immediate spotlight in the Decatur Georgia community. William took pride in his 30 plus years in the food industry serving up his signature dishes and family traditions.
Hobbies – He enjoyed many hobbies such as playing his saxophone, listening to Jazz music, growing a vegetable garden, and rocking in his rocking chair. His mother would often say “that rocking was his birthmark”.
William - was preceded in death by one son Melvin Bernard Samuel, two brothers William Henry Jr. and Andrew Samuel Murchison.
He leaves to mourn his daughter Tia Keonta Samuel, of Dublin, Ga, one son Robert Lenard Jordon, of Atlanta, Ga and one grandson Malcolm Willlam Johnson of Columbus, Ga. One brother Charles G. William loved all his nieces and nephews and they were all very special to him, he had stories about each one of them that would make you laugh until you cried, and only he could tell those stories. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godbrothers, a godsister and friends.
