Thomas Allen Jones, Jr., 71, loving husband of Adriane L. Jones of Savannah peacefully transitioned on June 5, 2022, at Memorial Health University Medical Center.
He served in the United States Air Force and the United States Army.
A native of Savannah, he participated in desegregating the public school system, graduating from Robert W. Groves High School in 1968. He was previously employed by CSX and attended Savannah State University. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas A. Jones, Sr. and Theressa J. Jones, 2 siblings, Juliette J. Wilder and Robert A. Jones. In addition to his wife he is survived by 1 child, Ericka Foster; 2 stepchildren, Andrew Lovett, and Julian Lovett; 2 sisters Janet J. Lee of Atlanta, GA and Ruby J. Cummings; 4 sisters-in-law, Jestine Mitchell, Alucia Walton, Paula Lovett, and Ayler Bryant; 5 brothers-in-law, Noel Lee of Atlanta, GA, John Cummings, Sr., John Wilder, Sr., David Lovett and William Lovett, Jr.; 3 aunts, Alberta Mikel (Edward) of Norwalk, CT, Lue Ethel Hodges of Durham, NC and Mary Jones of Bridgeport, CT; father-in-law, William Lovett, Sr.; mother-in-law, Ruth Harris; 3 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Viewing is 4:00pm – 6:00pm Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Adams Funeral Services.
Homegoing services will be held on Friday, June 17, 2022 at 12:00pm at First African Baptist Church (masks are required).
Interment at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Glennville.
Flowers are not permitted at the cemetery.
