On June 16, 1955 Vera Mae Brown was born to Maggie Williams and Johnny Gray, in Savannah, Ga. She completed her education in Chatham County Public School. She attended Savannah New Covenant Seventh-Day Adventist Church where she served on the Ushers board and as a deaconess. For many years she worked as a caregiver, laundry aid and a cleaning service agent.
She had a love for dancing, her grands/great grands and spending time with family and friends. She always lent a helping hand to anyone who was in need.
Vera is preceded in death by her husband, Leon Brown, her brother Joseph Bostick and her grandson Roderick Matthews III.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, a loving daughter Tonia Bostick; a special son-in-law Roderick Matthews II; mother, Maggie Williams; father, Johnny Gray; three brothers, Tommy (Romona) Bostick, Lawrence (Stacy) Williams, Ralph Williams; two sisters, Patricia Barnett, and Betty Bynes; three grands, Anthony Parrish Jr., Anquette Parrish and Ebony Matthews; three special great grands; Jah'meek Little, Calvin Matthews, and Peyton Moore; and 5 other great grands; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
