Mrs. Margaret Burton

Adams announces the passing of Mrs. Margaret L. Burton, 79, who transitioned on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Adams announces the Funeral Service for Mrs. Margaret Norris Burton 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Brownsville Baptist Church.

Mrs. Margaret Louise Burton was born September 7, 1938 to the late Julia B. Norris and Mr. Tom Norris in Warrenton, Georgia where she lived until she was twelve years old.  She then moved to Savannah with the rest of her family.

She subsequently married a U.S. Air Force airman, Rodney I. Burton, on December 23, 1958.  They traveled together and lived in several states and England.  Over the years, their family grew and they made their permanent home in Hampton, Virginia where Margaret retired after employment as a cook for over 22 years and her spouse retired as a Technical Sergeant from the Air Force after 23 years.  After the death of her spouse, Margaret returned to Savannah to live closer to her mother (Julia B. Norris), and siblings.  She made Savannah her home for the next 23 years.

Margaret was preceded death by her parents, Julia and Tom Norris; her spouse, Rodney I. Burton; and her sister, Frances J. Davis. She leaves to mourn: Children – Col.(Ret.) Dwight E. Thomas (Wilma-Elise), Kimichelle Burton, Teresa A. Burton, Donna M. Burton –Meyers (Michael), and Rodney I. Burton, Jr.; two siblings, Geraldine Matthews (Edward) of Waycross, GA, and Rev. Juner Norris of Atlanta, GA; Grandchildren – LaRhonda Burton, Eric and Kia Thomas, Marc E. Burton, Sonia, Lucas, Mariah, Nicole, and Rachel Meyers.  She also leaves to mourn her a special friend and companion for almost 20 years, Jonathon Minis.  There are also many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and a host of friends left to mourn her and to recall treasured memories of crossing her path.
