Mrs. Lillie Chisholm

Adams announces the passing of Mrs. Lillie Mae Chisholm, 88, who transitioned on Monday, June 25, 2018 at Azalealand Nursing Home.

Mrs. Lillie Mae Chisholm, daughter of the late Henry and Dolly Buncombe, was born May 7, 1930 in Bluffton, SC. At an early age she was baptized at Campbell AME Church in Bluffton, SC.  She started her formal education in the Beaufort County Public School system and later in Chatham County Public Schools (Savannah, GA). On March 9, 1947, she joined in Holy Matrimony to Samuel (Sammy) Chisholm and continued her Christian fellowship at St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church.  Lille Mae was known for her modest demeanor as she served her church community.  She received the Gartland Service Award in 2004 for her work chairing the Bereavement Committee and for volunteering at the Social Apostolate for several years.  She worked as a part-time domestic for many years, but her full-time role was taking care of her home and children. She leaves to mourn six children, Samuel Chisholm Jr of Lawnside, NJ (Mary), Christine Flowers of Decatur, GA (Marion), Richard Chisholm of Miramar, FL (Beverly), Jacqueline Sheffield of Upper Marlboro, MD (Norman), Angela Chisholm of Savannah, GA and Carol Houston of Marietta, GA.  One step daughter Geneva McCormick of Adel, GA.  Along with 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, Also, her god daughter Kimberly Cooper of Savannah, GA.  Special cousins Lula Mae Ford, Shirley and Louise Knight of Bluffton, SC and Ella Stoney of Savannah, GA and a host of other relatives and friends.
