“ I’m Blessed”
My Life Journey
“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heavens”
Ecclesiastes 3:1
A Time to be Born:
Juanita Delores Holmes was born September 9, 1950 to the late Rev. Aaron and Lillian German Holmes in Savannah, GA. She received her early education from St. Mary’s Catholic School. Upon graduation in 1964, Juanita attended and graduated in 1968 from Sophronia M Tompkins High School in 1968. In the early 80’s, she attended South College.
A Time to Plant:
Her seed of faith was planted at First Union Baptist Church, where she was baptized under the late Rev. L.C. Sapp. Having been raised in a loving christian home, Juanita was very active in church. She was a dedicated member of the Sunday School, Baptist Training Union, Junior Choir, Youth and Young Adult Choirs, and in later years the Gospel Chorus. Juanita also served as a committed and faithful church clerk for over 20 years until her health began to fail.
A Time to Build:
Juanita’s work ethic was evident in the numerous positions she held within several companies in the Savannah area. She began her work career as a pharmacy technician at Crosby’s drugstore, and later for the Revco Discount Drug Store. She then served as the accounts payable manager for Builderama until the company ceased operation. She went on to serve as the PBX phone system manager at Memorial University Medical Center for eleven years. She retired in 2013 as a special desk reservations agent at AirTran Airways. She returned to the workforce as a Customer Service Representative at OnBrand24 for the last four years.
A Time to Embrace:
In May of 1968, Juanita married Ozzie DeLoach Sr. They became the proud parents of one son, Kevin Jermaine DeLoach. In later years, she was united in marriage to Gregory Carr.
A Time to Mourn:
On Wednesday evening, February 28, 2018, God in his infinite wisdom saw that Nita was tired and said to her “Come unto me my Child and rest.” Juanita was preceded in death by her parents Rev. Aaron & Lillian Holmes, three brothers: Joseph “Bobby”, Morris, and Johnny Lee Holmes, three sisters: Rosa Holmes, Burdell Shuler, and Ella Moore.
A Time to Keep:
Juanita will live on in those she loved and held near and dear to her. Her loving and devoted son, Kevin Jermaine DeLoach; four grandsons: Devin Jamari, Gevin Jamel, Kyng Trevin DeLoach, and Christofer Jamal Capers; two granddaughters: Trezur and Treneti Davis; two brothers: Dec. Ernest Bryant (Jean) of Washington, D.C. and Rufus Holmes (Elease) of New York, NY; three sisters: Margie Terry (Art) of Atlanta, GA, Jessie Aiken and Iola Chestnut of New York, NY; three goddaughters: Tiffany Morris, Madina Barnes, and Myea Williams; five great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, “adopted” children and friends.
