Josephine Alexander Mungin, was born October 2, 1937 in Jackson Mississippi to Jasper and Birda (Robinson) Alexander. On June 4, 1959, she married John Henry Mungin. They gave life to 6 amazing daughters. “Mungin” as she would militarily call him served in the Navy during war time. He was a part of the World War ii the Korean War and Vietnam war. They settled in Savannah Georgia a place they called home for many years. In 1995 Mungin preceded her in death. She never remarried.
Josephine accepted the Lord in her life at an early age. She worked as a self-employed home care provider for over 25 years. Everyone in the neighborhood respected her and all the children called her mom. She always put family first. Her home was always opened to her 15 grandchildren John, William, Corey, Devede, Jonell, Kerry jr, Regel, Eric, Joyceolyn, Brandon, Charlton, Jordon, Adam, Brooke, Guy, Kristine, Steven, Jessica, Jasper, John Wesley, Jada and a host of great-grandchildren. What she enjoyed was spending time with all the children and teaching them about life. Josephine was afforded the opportunity to travel and see the world.
Talk about humor she was quick with the jokes and sharp with the tongue, you knew when to hold them or to fold them around her. She gave everyone a nick name whether they knew it or not. (LOL)
As Josephine joins her mother and father in heaven, surviving is her 6 daughters, JoAnne Lovie Louise King of Savannah Ga, Johnnie M. Massey of McDonough Ga, Wilhermina Lewis of Radford N.C, Cheryl Mungin of Atlanta Ga, Joyce DaValt of Atlanta Ga, Jolanda Taylor of Savannah Ga; 1 son, James Best , she opened her arms and heart to Kerry Ward , Christopher Alexander and Percy Alexander as her own.
Three sisters, Lue Bertha Sterling of Benton Michigan, and 2 who preceded her Lila Bell Mack of Jackson Mississippi, Lovie Louise Harmon of Benton Harbor Michigan, 1 brother who also preceded her Rev. Sam Alexander and many nieces and nephews.
