OBITUARY:

Joan Lanier Wilson was born on December 31, 1933, to the union of Mr. and Mrs. Ruel and Lucille Lanier.  On February 18, 2020, she gained her wings and transitioned to eternal rest to receive her heavenly reward.

She was born and raised in Yamacraw Village in Savannah Georgia. She attended

Alfred E. Beach High School and briefly played on the Lady Bulldogs Basketball Team. This is the story she told us that made us laugh. She was on the basketball court playing basketball when someone through the ball and it hit her in the head. She walked off the court and never played basketball again.

Joan was an active and faithful member at The Fifth Street Baptist Church, and she also loved her church family. She also song in the choir in her earlier years and served on the Board of Trustees. Her late husband, Daniel Wilson also join Fifth Street Baptist Church to be with his wife in worship. When her health begins to fail during the pandemic, she became a faithful listener of church services by phone.

Joan married James Henry McPherson (Deceased) and to this union four sons were born. Gregory (Deceased), Larry, Reginald and Ervin McPherson. She later married Daniel Cook Wilson, who preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish loving and fond memories:

Daughter, Roslyn Kelly Floyd, Sons: Larry (Marilyn) McPherson, Reginald (Ira) McPherson, Ervin (Cheryl) McPherson. Stepchildren:  Rosemary Wilson, Louise Wilson, Christabel (Andre) Wilson Robinson, Danny Wilson, Jimmy Lee Wilson, and Anthony Wilson. 8 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, also a vast number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
