Adams announces funeral services for Mrs. Elouise Johnson, 12:00 P.M., Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Canaan United Methodist Church located 2401 Elgin Street Savannah, GA 31404. Rev. Franklin Fletcher, Pastor; Rev. Kenneth Griffin, Eulogist.
Visitation with the family will be held at the church from 5:00 P.M.-7:30 P.M. on Friday, March 30, 2018.
Interment: Magnolia Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Elouise Johnson was born on October 13, 1935 in Sylvania, Georgia (Screven County) to the late Daniel and Laura Roberts. She was the last surviving sibling of twelve children.
Elouise received her early education from Spring Head School in Ogeechee, Georgia. She later attended and graduated from Richard Arnold night school to obtain her high school diploma in 1980.
After relocating to Savannah, she met and was united in holy matrimony to Grover C. Johnson on
June 12, 1954. To this union a daughter was born, they were married for 64 years. She was employed with E&W Laundry and later as a homemaker.
A Time To Serve
Elouise joined Palen United Methodist Church in the 1970. she was a dedicated member of The Sanctuary Choir, a faithful member on The Usher Board, and served as President on the PPR Committee at Palen United Methodist church. She volunteered and assisted with the vacation summer bible school program.
Elouise truly enjoyed life and was an avid reader, love to travel, and enjoyed sharing special times with family and friends. The joys of her life was her granddaughters and New Jersey Family.
A Time to Go Home
Elouise endured a long illness that eventually limited her physical ability, but it never took away her optimism and positive out look on life. God called her to eternal rest on Friday, March 23, 2018.
She leaves to cherish her memory, beloved husband of 64 years, Grover C Johnson, daughter Brenda Johnson Jackson (Cyrus Jackson), granddaughters, Khadija Jackson, Akiya Jackson, nephews, Harry Cook, Sr, Carnell Cook (Sallie Cook), Roy Lewis Cooke(Mae Cooke), Matthew Cook( Louvenia), nieces, Pamela Harrison, Diane Roberts, Annie R Brown, In-laws, Mr.Leroy Reid (Mattie Reid) of Glassboro, NJ, Mr. Artis Mobley ( Mamie Reid) of Newfield, NJ, Mr. Nathaniel Reid (Cheri) of Sacramento, CA, and a host nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
