Adams announces the passing of Mrs. Dorothy Clarke, 89, who transitioned on Friday, May 11, 2018 at her Residence.
Dorothy Mae Powers Clarke, 89, entered into eternal rest on Friday May 11, 2018. Dorothy was born in Savannah GA. She was the only child of the late Edward and Florie Powers. Dorothy was educated in the Chatham County Public School and graduated with a degree in Education from Savannah State College. She was the wife of the late Elbert J. Clarke, Sr.
Dorothy was a retired teacher from Georgia Regional Hospital. She passionately taught children with special needs. Having accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, Dorothy was a faithful servant and Christian role model at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She worked with the young people through the Junior Usher Board and Sunday School and provided excellent leadership for the Senior Adult Ministry. Truly she can say as the Apostle Paul said, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith” (II Timothy 4:7).
As a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend, she will be greatly missed. Dorothy leaves to mourn her passing three daughters, Geraldine Clarke of Athens, GA., Deborah (Charles) Roberts and Rhonda Clarke of Savannah, a devoted daughter-in law, Dorothy J. Clarke of Atlanta, G.A., grandchildren Bobby, Brenda and Danny Spradley, Darryl (Shannon) Sheppard, Natasha (Joseph) Geathers, Gary (Jamie) Williams and Gregory Williams, and Jeremiah Clarke of Atlanta, GA. great grand-children, Victoria Spradley, Bernisha Spradley, Essence Jones, Jayden Williams, Darryl, Jr. and MaKenzie Sheppard, a devoted nephew William Clarke, and a host of other loving family and friends.
Life is indeed a gift from God. John 5:24 speaks to us about life and death, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. Letting go is hard but we know Dorothy is home with Christ. Each of us will cherish and remember her life as we prepare to see her again. Celebrate life! Live each day as God commands us to do in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
