Adams announces the Funeral Services for Mrs. Berneta Smith Mackey, 1:00 P.M., Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Alpha and Omega Worship Center.
Public Viewing: 4:00P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Friday at the Funeral Home.
OBITUARY:
Berneta Smith Mackey born in New York City on June 5,1946; daughter and third child of Jaspher and Marguerite Smith (preceded in death by two brothers George and Jaspher Smith,Jr.). She was educated in the public school system of Chatham County and a graduate of 1963 of Tompkins High School, and later attended Savannah State College (now known as Savannah State University).
Berneta later married Thomas Mackey, to this union three children were born Tonya Mackey (daughter), two sons: Torrey (Torian) Mackey and Terrance (Dedra) Mackey. Three grandchildren- Tahzanna,Tayvon, and Jordan Mackey, three step-grands- Justin, Dedric, and Shawn Brandon Jenkins.
A very Special friend for over 20 years Mr. Oliver Barnes (Bobby), a very special nephew Vincent (Cynthia) Polite, three spiritual God-children-Leslie, Steven Todd (Lisa) and Dominic Benton. Two special cousins Mrs. Bertha Shell (dec.) and Hermenia Olds,
other cousins and friends.
Berneta joined Taylor Chapel AME Church at an early age and sang in the Junior Choir, and in later years joined the Missionary and layman boards.
