Samuel William Bryant “SW” passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, May 16, 2020 sleeping next to his wife. He was 89 years old.
SW was born on March 15, 1931 in Jenkins County, GA to the late Richard Bryant and Emma Farley Bryant-Williams (Poppa Joe Williams) and later re-located to Savannah, GA.
During his younger years, he attended Chatham County public schools in Savannah and was later drafted into the United States Army where he served in the Korean War as a Military Police (often saying this was the best decision he could have ever made). He was a hard worker for 41 years at Union Camp Paper Mill and highly respected during his employment. He is a former member of Palen United Methodist Church and was a faithful tither for many years.
In 1964, SW met the love of his life, Martha Brown. Last year in October, they celebrated 55 years of marriage. They are proud parents to Cynthia Brown Robino, Samuel W. Bryant, III (Keysha) and Anthony Bryant. They are super proud grandparents of Samuel W. Bryant, IV and Gabbrielle Bryant, and God/Grandparents to Joshua Swanson (Shay) and Janae Swanson-Brown (Vernon). SW was a true family man and truly loved each of them his family members. He was the oldest male in the Bryant family and has never missed a Scott Family Reunion; so proud to be a Bryant! He is a grandson of Samuel and Nina Scott Bryant.
He was preceded in death by both parents, brother Richard Bryant, and sisters Beulah Ramsey (*Walter) & Mary Jones (*Earl), sister-in-law Lilly Ruth Brown, brother-in-law Clayton Brown (Delores). He is survived by his beautiful wife, children and grandchildren. And also survived by his sister Bernice Grimes, Savannah, brother Franklin Williams (Milenthia), Savannah, brother-in-law’s Freddie Brown (*Maggie), Washington, DC, Roger Brown (*Virginia), North Carolina, sister-in-law’s Thelma Diggs (*Carl), Virginia, Linda Bostick (*Curtis), Washington DC, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the DaVita Derenne Dialysis 5303 Montgomery St, Savannah, GA 31405 in care of Mr. Samuel W. Bryant
