OBITUARY:

Vivian, was born on June 16, 1925 in Charleston, South Carolina to Robert and Rosa Lee Jackson. The youngest of four children: Floretta Simon, Albertha Mack and Rosa Lee Smalls, all preceded her in death.
Vivian or ""Jackie"" as she was called during school days was a very talented musician. Her ability to play the piano, trumpet and violin earned her two music scholarships to South Carolina State College at the age of sixteen. While at South Carolina State she earned a degree in Nursing, which was the beginning of a long career as a dedicated Nurse. With her sister, Albertha, they owned and operated their own beauty school and salon, teaching cosmetology.
Vivian became a Navy wife after marrying career Navy man Alexander Pelote, Sr. The couple was the owners of Al's Amoco in Charleston, South Carolina. This union produced three children, Alfonso Pelote, Marietta ""Mari"" Pelote-Daniel and Teresa Pelote-Thorne. Alfonso preceded his mother in death.
Vivian was very active in political, charitable and church organizations. Everyone enjoyed her lively fun loving nature and quick wit. She had a long time love of books, movies, impromptu cook outs, and experiencing different cultures and foods. There was never a dull moment with Vivian as she loved to laugh, and kid. She always had a taste for a meal of fresh fish and snickers bars.
After recommitting her life to Christ in 1987, she would often encourage you to pray, have faith and trust in God. It was that faith that led to Vivian receiving her promotion when God called her home on December 6, 2013.
To cherish fond memories she leaves her children, stepchildren, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
