Mrs. Thomasina H. Burnett, 87, had her transition on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 surrounded by her family.
The funeral services will be held at St Philip A.M.E. Church, 613 Martin Luther King Jr, BLVD, on Wednesday, May 4 at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will be held in Beach Island S.C. at the Hollomon Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Philip A.M.E. Church.
Thomasina Hollomon Burnett, passed on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at the Habersham House Senior Residence, under the care of Gentivia Hospice. Mrs. Burnett, a native of Aiken, S.C., was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ida Devine Hollomon. She was also preceded in death by her six-year old daughter, Cynthia Burnett, and by four brothers and six sisters.
She received her B.S. degree in Elementary Education from Savannah State College (now Savannah State University), and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from South Carolina State University. She retired from the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System after thirty years of service as a teacher.
Mrs. Burnett was a longtime member of St. Philip A.M.E. Church on M.L.K. BLVD, where she was once a choir member.
Mrs. Burnett is survived by a loving and devoted sister, Mrs. Katherine Hollomon Redden; five nieces: Mattie B. McCoy (Roosevelt). Gloria Liggins, Doris Liggins, Deborah Liggins, and Brenda Bradley Bazilio (Kenneth); three nephews: Barney Hollomon (Lillian), Arthur (Linda) Bradley, Fred Liggins, Jr. and a host of other relatives.
