Adams announces the passing of Mrs. Pennie Thomas- Sparks, 69, who transitioned on Friday, May 24, 2024 at Candler Hospital.

Celebration of Life Services will be held June 1, 2024 at 4:00 PM in the Adams Chapel.

Pennie Elizabeth Thomas-Sparks was born on March 4, 1955 to the late Calvin Thomas and Zannie Moore Thomas in Seattle, Washington. She transitioned into her eternal resting place on May 24, 2024 at St. Joseph’s/Candler Hospital after a brief illness.

Pennie was educated in the Essex County, New Jersey public educational system. While attending Clifford J. Scott High School, she was a member of the Soul Majestic’s Drill Team. On June 23, 1973, she received her high school diploma from Clifford J. Scott High School in East Orange, NJ.

In 2009, Pennie retired from Eva’s Village in Paterson, NJ to care for her ailing mother, Zannie, in Savannah, Ga, who later preceded her in death in September 2015.

Pennie leaves behind to mourn her death; husband, Christopher Sparks; son, Daryl Majette Jr.; daughter, Tanisha (Calvin) Thompson; grandchildren, Dontae Polite and Caylin & Chanoah Thompson; sisters, Jenette Thomas, Denese Mukhtar and Beatrice Thomas; niece, Zanita Thomas-Kotoku; nephews, Terrell Brown, Carlo Thomas, Mohammed Kemp, Damien Thomas, Kahlid Kemp and Musafar Kemp; a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and close friends.
