Mrs. Nellie Colquitt Pierson, 91, had her transition on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at her residence surrounded by her loving family under the professional care of Hospice Savannah, Inc.
Visitation with the family will be held from 12:00P.M.-1:00P.M. prior to the funeral service at the church on Friday, July 17, 2015 at Thankful Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral service for Mrs. Nellie Colquitt Pierson will be held 1:00 P.M., Friday, July 17, 2015 at Thankful Missionary Baptist Church located 820 MLK Jr. Blvd. Rev. Paul A. Sheppard, Pastor; Rev. Ricky D. Turner, Eulogist.
Graveside service will be held 2:00P.M., Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Green Acres Cemetery in Columbus, GA.
OBITUARY:
Nellie Pierson left her earthly home, in Savannah, Georgia, to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 9, 2015. She was born, April 17, 1924 to Jackson and Leola Colquitt, in Smith Station, Alabama. Her mother, father, son, Emmet Jr., sisters, Ersa Leonard, and Leola Colquitt, brothers, Emmett, Stonewall, and John Colquitt, and husband, Emmet W. Pierson, preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Jacqueline Pierson Tomlin and Neldra Moody Flint, of the home; grandchildren, Edward J. Moody, Duluth, MN; Jason L. Tomlin, Atlanta, GA; Stefanie J. Tomlin, Los Angeles, CA; her sister, Thelma Sterling, Columbus, GA; her late husband's son, Emmet W. Pierson Jr. (Dr. Marion) and their daughters, Elexa and Erris, Lees Summit, MO; sister-in-law, Ercelle Bate, Tulsa, OK, and Clotilde Bryant, Denver, CO; Loyal C. Denton Jr, who was like a son to her, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, church family and all of the people that she touched in some special way as she journeyed through this life.
Homegoing services will be held on Friday, July 17th. Viewing will be at 12 noon and service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Thankful Missionary Baptist Church (Pastor Paul A. Sheppard), 820 Martin Luther King Blvd. Burial and graveside service will be at her hometown of Columbus, Georgia on Saturday, July 18th at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Cemetery.
