OBITUARY
Mrs. Mildred Spencer McCray entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Riverview Nursing Home under hospice care.
She was born to the late Freddie Spencer and the late Wilhelmina Baker on December 12, 1932 in Savannah, Georgia.
She attended public school in Chatham county. She was a student at the original Haven Home School in Savannah.
She was married to Claude McCray who preceded her in death. To this union no children were born. But she loved his children, Ruben, Ike, Rayfield and Jeanette, as her own and they loved her as well.
As a domestic worker, she had various jobs and employers until retirement.
Mildred attended Zion Hill Baptist Church as a young child where she accepted Christ as her savior. She later joined Julia Fountain AME Church and served faithfully as an usher and missionary. When Trinity AME Church merged with Julia Fountain AME Church she was no longer able to serve due to failing health but was still a member in good standing until she passed. She was best known for her kind generosity to those in need, her love of family and friends and true faith in God. Her favorite scripture passage in the bible was the Beatitudes, Matthew 5:3-16.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a devoted sister and caregiver, Agnes Hardy, a loving brother, Bobby (Tina) Ancrum Sr., a caring cousin, Barbara Gardner; two nieces, Janelle Ancrum and Christy Hardy; six nephews, James (Shaunte) Hardy; Bobby (Jasmine) Ancrum Jr.; Maurice Adger, Christopher Adger; Rhyan (Sandra) Hardy and Jordan Ancrum; a devoted caregiver, James Hill, whom she called her son; several grand nieces, grand nephews, great grand nieces, other relatives and friends.
