Mrs. Margaret Sweew Spells, 104, passsed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 under the professional care of Hospice Savannah at Azalealand Nursing Home.
Mrs Spells wil be foever remembrered for her quick wit, catchy sayings, and her love for singing old spirituals. Two of her favorite songs to sing were ""Wade in the Water"" and ""Jesus on the Mainline"". She was a longtime memeber of Clifton Baptist Chrch.
Mrs. Spells was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Lee Spells, her parents, Samuel and Malinda Sweet, 4 sisters, 3 brothers, and 1 grandson, Charles Irving Spells, Jr.
She is survived by her only son, Sergeant Major Charles I. Spells (United States Army, Retired) and his wife Mary of Newark, DE; 2 granddaughters, Lieutenant Colonel Miriam Anita Spells (United States Army, Retired) of Newark, DE, Charlene E. Spells of Durham, NC; one grandson, Johnnie Lee Spells of Newark, DE and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services and burial were private. Interment: Cherokee Hill Cemetery.
