Mrs. Lessie Mae Owens, 70, had her transition on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Memorial Health University Medical Center.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lessie Mae Stewart Owens will be held 12 Noon on Friday, December 23, 2016 at Mountain Hill Holiness Church located 2134 Fox St.; Pastor Willie Mae Haynes.
Viewing: 10:00 A.M until hour of service at the church.
Interment: Woodville Cemetery.
OBITUARY:
Mrs. Lessie Mae Owens, daughter of the late Jake Stewart and Annie Bell Stewart was born July 10, 1946 in Savannah, GA. She attended the public schools of Chatham County and was a graduate of Tompkins High School. At an early age she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined Taylor Chapel AME Church where she was a dedicated member. At Taylor Chapel, she served faithfully on the Stewardess board.
Lessie was united in holy matrimony to Jack Owens Sr. of Estille, South Carolina, on January 4th of 1969. This union was blessed with 4 children.
Mrs. Owens was a devoted wife and mother. She was an active member of the Hudson Hill community. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality she was beloved by many. Her kind ways, and unique fashion statements (i.e. her black lipstick and spontaneous hairstyles), always made her stand out. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the people that she influenced, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She departed life unexpectedly Saturday, December 17, 2016.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Sabrina (Dicks) Owens of Fort Riley KS, Jack Owens Jr. of Culpeper VA, Ricky M. Owens of Savannah GA, and Reggie L. Owens of Savannah GA; son-in law David Dicks of Fort Riley KS and daughter-in-law Dwonne (Reggie) Owens of Savannah GA; granddaughter Timica Simmons of Savannah GA; fifteen other grandchildren, five great grandchildren; brother Jake Stewart of Savannah GA, brother Willie James Stewart of Jacksonville FL; sister Katherine Stewart of Savannah GA; step daughter Jacquline Simmons and Janice Simmons of Savannah GA; niece Wanda Stewart of Savannah GA, niece Tammy (Demery)Stewart of Savannah GA, niece Shebbie Stewart of Savannah GA, nephew Ramonda Stewart of Savannah GA; Marcello Stewart of Savannah GA; a host of devoted other nieces, newphews, cousins and friends.
