Mrs. Juanita Tyson, 88, had her transition Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Candler General Hospital surrounded by her loving and devoted family. She was a lifelong resident of Savannah, GA. She retired from the Cathedral of St. John's Catholic Church, as a housekeeper and cook, after many years of service. She was a longtime member of the Council of Catholic Women, of St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church. She worked very faithfully preparing soup to feed the homeless with the Council of Catholic Women. Preceding her in death was her husband, Joshua Tyson, Sr.
Surviving are her children: Jacqueline (Jeremiah) Beasley of Richmond Hill, GA, Joan (Theodore) Hall of Hillside, NJ, Joshua Tyson, Jr. of New York City, Joseph (Verna) Tyson, of Newark, NJ, Joycelin Maynard/Jennise Hoffman of Savannah, GA, Judith Wagner of Pensacola, FL., a step daughter, Irabelle West, of Savannah, GA, sixteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral Mass: 10:00am Saturday, May 30, 2009 at St. Benedict The Moor Catholic Church, 441 East Broad Street, Savannah, GA., Rev. Christian A. Alimaji, M.S.P., Pastor. Rosary Service: Friday, May 29, 2009 from 7:00pm-8:00pm at Adams Funeral Services, Inc Chapel, 510 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah, GA. Mrs. Tyson will lie in state at the church Saturday, 8:30am until hour of service. Interment: Catholic Cemetery,
