Adams announces the passing of Dr. Janice Yvonne Hill Williams, 72, who transitioned on Monday, January 13, 2025 at Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Dr. Janice Yvonne Hill Williams was born October 8, 1952 in New Bern, North Carolina to Ernest Hill and Annie White Hill.
Dr. Williams attended J. T. Barber High School in New Bern, North Carolina. She was a senior class officer and voted most witty. Dr. Williams joined St. Paul Disciple Church of Christ in New Bern, North Carolina.
Dr. Williams met and fell in love with Mr. Edward Williams in New Bern, North Carolina. They married in (March 1972). To this union, three children were born: Anthony LaMont Williams, Chris Leon Williams, and Veronica Michelle Williams. They moved to Savannah, Georgia in 1977.
Dr. Williams furthered her education by attending Draugans Junior College (currently South University) in Savannah, Georgia with a major in Accounting (1983-1985). She worked in ceramics for the City of Savannah in the 80's. She later attended Armstrong College and earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Early Elementary Education (December 1988). She worked for the Board of Education as an early elementary school teacher at Heard Elementary School where she taught 2nd – 4th grades, but 2nd grade was her favorite grade to teach. She returned to school at Georgia Southern where she earned a Master’s of Education (June 1996). She attended South Carolina State University where she earned an Ed.S (May 2000) and Ed.D in (December 2004).
She worked as an assistant principal for the following schools: May Howard, Savannah High, Jenkins High, Groves, and New Hampstead. She was a principal at Building Bridges. She retired in 2016 where the ceremony was held at Savannah State University.
She was talented at singing, drawing, painting, and making ceramics. She loved to cook, bake cakes and pies, entertain family and friends, but most of all she loved her family, children, and grandchildren.
She is proceeded in death by: her parents Ernest and Annie Hill, her siblings: Dallas White, Dan Hill, Ernestine Hill Reels, Alice Hill Miller, and Bernice Jefferson. She is survived by: her husband Edward Williams in Savannah, Georgia, her children: Anthony Williams in Rincon, Georgia, Chris and (Leah) Williams in Loganville, Georgia, Veronica Williams in Savannah, Georgia, her siblings: Annie White in Cleveland, Ohio, Gwen Hill in Fairfield, California, Linda Hill, in Riveria Beach, Florida, Doris Hill Peterson in Cleveland, Ohio, Sandra Hill Williams in New Bern, North Carolina, and she has 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Overcoming By Faith Ministries- 9700 Middleground Rd.- Ricky Temple, Pastor.
Viewing will be held from 4 PM - 6 PM, Monday, January 27, 2025 at the funeral home.
Burial: Greenwich Cemetery @ Bonaventure.
