ADAMS announces the passing of Mrs. Harriett Hendry Singleton, 91 who transitioned on Monday, February 19, 2024 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 1 PM Saturday, March 2, 2024 at the United House Of Prayer For All People located 5009 Montgomery St.
Viewing will be held from 4 PM to 6 PM Friday, March 1 at the funeral home.
Burial: Oak Grove cemetery.
Obituary – Harriett Hendry Singleton
Sister Harriett Hendry Singleton, 91, transitioned on Monday, February 19, 2024, under the care of her loving and devoted family.
Harriett Hendry Singleton was the youngest daughter of the late Brother Luke J. Hendry and Sister Birdie Mae Hendry, born on June 14, 1932. She was a graduate of the Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools and retired from Memorial Health University. Sister Singleton was a lifelong member of the United House of Prayer for All People, where she served as Mountain Maid for Bishop C. M. (Daddy) Grace, as an original member of the Grace Jubilars Choir, the McCollough Determinettes, State Marching Band Booster, original Co-Founder of the McCollough Stewardress, United Club and member of the McCollough Adult Ushers. She served faithfully under five House of Prayer Bishops until she succumbed to her declining health.
During her marriage to the late Herbert (Duck) Singleton, Sr., five children were conceived in their union, son: Herbert “Junior” Singleton, Jr., daughter: Debora L. Singleton, four brothers: Herlin J. Hendry, Thomas L. Hendry, Charles E. Hendry, James S. Hendry, Sr. and two sisters: Minerva E. Wilcox and Theodosia M. Hendry all preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memories one son: Bro. Gerald Singleton (Desiree), two daughters: St. Juliette Ling and Sis. Tracie Singleton all of Savannah, GA; one goddaughter: Gwendolyn Newsome; two brothers: Dennis “Lil Daddy” Hendry, Sr. of Jacksonville, FL, and Artis Copeland of Laurelton, New York; five grandchildren: Annette Ling (Neal), Emanuel Gray, II, Herbert “Tre” Singleton, III, Bryant Singleton, and Kirsten Singleton; seven great-grandchildren; Antonio Bradham, Marquise Grant, Marshai Brown, Marsadie “Sadie” Brown, Nasiriyah “Lil Momma” Northcutt, Khalib Singleton and Nevaeh Northcutt, five great-great grandchildren: Amari “Beans” Bradham, Aliyah Bradham, Alijah Bradham, and Mi’Yori “Sweet Peas” Williams, Porsha Lockhart; four bonus daughters: Rhonda Smith, Gwendolyn Smith, Angela Mack and Sharon L. Jackson; thirteen bonus grandchildren: Kejuanna Singleton, Robby Singleton, Jackie Chisholm, Lametra Green (Mario), Latasha Blige (Paul), Kimberly Industrious (Eric), Ebonie Northcutt, Shaniyah Harden, Rodderius Jones, Nettie Stevens, Jasmine Lockhart, Aiden Lockhart, and Aria Lockhart; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family, neighbors, and friends.
Homegoing Service: Saturday, March 2, 2024@1:00 pm, United House of Prayer for All People, 5009 Montgomery, Savannah, GA.
Public viewing: Friday, March 1, 2024@2:00 pm at Adams Funeral Services.
Instate: 11:00am until hour of service.
Interment: Oak Grove Cemetery, 52nd/Skidaway, in Savannah, GA.
