Mrs. Gwendolyn Young Finney, 68, had her transition on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Candler General Hospital with her loving husband and family by her side.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gwendolyn Young Finney will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Philip Monumental A.M.E. Church 1112 Jefferson St., Presiding Elder James Taylor, Pastor.

Instate: 9:00 A.M. until the hour of service on Tuesday.


Interment: Laurel Grove Cemetery.


OBITUARY:

Gwendolyn Young Finney passed away on June 30th, 2015 surrounded by her loving husband and children. A native of Screven County/Sylvania, GA, Gwen was the daughter of Dewey and Daisy Bell Young. In her early years as a citizen of Savannah, Gwen graduated from Richard Arnold High School, joined St. Philip Monumental A.M.E. church, worked as an usher for her church, and married Savannah native John H. Finney. For over 40 years of marriage they cared for three daughters - Angela, Jondrea, and Sharyn. As a member of St. Philip Monumental A.M.E. church, Gwen faithfully served the homeless population of Savannah, regularly attended bible study and love feasts, and acted as a class leader - encouraging church members under her leadership to actively participate in the support and growth of the church. Gwendolyn's pride and joy involved being an expert gardener and interior decorator but more importantly a loving and loyal mother, wife, sister, daughter, and servant of God.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gwendolyn Young Finney will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Philip Monumental A.M.E. Church 1112 Jefferson St., Presiding Elder James Taylor, Pastor. Public Viewing: Monday at 11:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Instate: 9:00 A.M. until the hour of service on Tuesday. Interment: Laurel Grove Cemetery.
