Faith: 2 Timothy 4:7
On February 20, 1936, Glennis was given as an only gift to her mother, Azilee (Gloster),
Scott, and Her father, the late Ugene Johnson. Glennis was reared in Savannah, attending the
public schools of Chatham County. She graduated from Beach High School. Her mom, Azilee
Gloster Scott passed when she was only 6 years old.
She attended Mount Tabor Baptist Church in Liberty City, under the late Rev.
Donaldson, and served as secretary, choir member and fulfilled other services as called upon.
She later joined with the later Pastor Ernestine Dilworth’s Ministry, now Overcoming By Faith
Ministry with Pastor Ricky Temple. She also served at other ministries in Savannah, with her
last membership being at Seeds of Faith Ministry, where she declined with attendance due to
illness.
Glennis was a legend to all her children, grandchildren, and great grandson due to her
unfailing love, steadfastness, and strong independence. Her life spoke for her with compassion
for others. She was always willing to help her family, friends, and others. Her life was an
example of her Christian values.
Glennis was the eldest of thirteen siblings from her father, the late Ugene Johnson of
Savannah. Five sisters preceded her death: Shirley Bennet, Mary (Elliott) Dawkins, Ernestine
Pinckney, Maggie (Andrew) Kirkland, all of Savannah, and Fannie (Roosevelt) Hicks of
Jacksonville, Florida. Five brothers also preceded her in death: Robert Lee Hamilton, Sr.,
Nathaniel Johnson, Robbie Lee Johnson, Eugene Johnson, Jr. (B.K.A.) Savannah Red, all of
Savannah, Georgia, and Andrew Johnson of New York. She leaves two surviving brothers to
cherish her memories: Marvin and Edward Johnson of Savannah, Georgia.
Glennis will be lovingly missed by her six children, Deborah (Leroy) Parker, Sharon
White, and Donna Simpson of Savannah, Georgia, Charlie (Terrie) White of Warner Robbins,
Georgia, Bryan (Lane) Moss of Mineral, Virginia, and Barbara (Dametrius) McKenny of
