Mrs. Gaynell Maggie Williams

August 5, 1925 — June 15, 2009

Mrs. Gaynell Williams had her transition Monday, June 15, 2009 at Saint Joseph's Hospital, Savannah, Georgia surrounded by her loving and devoted family and friends.

A native of Bulloch County, she was educated in public schools, of Statesboro, GA. including Polk's Academy and Statesboro High Industrial School.

In 1946 she married Tyree Williams and from this union one daughter was born. In 1947, they relocated and established their home in Plainfield, NJ. They lived their for over 65 years.

Gaynell was a Nurse. She worked for the Federal Government at Lyons Veterans Hospital in Lyons, NJ until she retired.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Plainfield, NJ. After relocating in February, 2007 to Savannah, GA., her membership was moved to St. Philip AME Church on Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.

She leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Priscilla Williams of Savannah, GA; mother, Edna Baldwin, 102 years old of Washington, DC; three sisters: Lottie M. Parker of Upper Marlboro, MD, Naomi Brown of Newark, NJ and Jannie Emery of Washington, DC; one adopted brother, LaVaughn Raymond of Pooler, GA;three sisters-in-law: Myrtle Baldwin, Fannie Williams and Ola Raymond; one brother-in-law, Charles Emery; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service: 11:00am Friday, June 26, 2009 at St. Philip AME Church. Viewing: Thursday, June 25, 2009 from 10:00am to 7:00pm at Adams Funeral Services, Inc., 510 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah, GA 31405. Mrs. Williams will lie in state Friday at the church from 9:00am until hour of service.

Interment: Eastside Cemetery in Statesboro, GA 30458.
