Our dear mother, Evelyn McFadden Brown, was born to the late Sidney McFadden Jr. and late
Albertha (Burke) McFadden in Savannah, GA. on Feb 14 , 1940. On Oct 15, 2024, God called his divine
servant home.
Evelyn received her early education in the Savannah Chatham County Public School System and
graduated from Beach High School in 1958. Having a heart for service, she earned a certification as
a CNA from South College. She served as a caregiver at Saint Joseph Hospital and Memorial
Medical Center.
Evelyn accepted the Lord at an early age and was baptized at First Friendship Baptist Church, in
Savannah, GA. In 1996 she became an Ordained Minister at St. Paul CME under the guidance of the
late Rev. H. Delaney. Longing to return to her beginning, she reinstated her membership at First
Friendship Baptist church, where she served on the ministerial staff.
Her acts of caring and giving expanded beyond her family and church. She prepared and served hot
meals in the parks of Savannah, GA to anyone in need or just wanting a meal. Her acts of kindness
were that of a cheerful giver. “2Corinthians 9:6 Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly,
and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he decided in his
heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver and that was who she was
to many.”
Eveyln was proceded in death by her late husband Sidney Brown Jr., her daughters Yvette
McFadden and Linda Brown, sisters Patricia Coleman, Sharon Carter, brothers Herman
(Frog)McFadden, Joseph (Snipe) McFadden, Robert McFadden, and a grandson Larry Brown Jr. She
leaves to cherish her memory her children, Marshall McFadden(Cynthia), James Lamont Brown,
Larry Brown (Felicia), Anthony Brown, Cheryl Brown all of Savannah, GA, Beverly Carroll of Atlanta
Ga, three loving sisters ,Roberta Pringle, Gertrude Thomas of Savannah, GA, Doris Brown of
McDonough, GA, 12 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, nieces , nephews, relatives and
friends.
“Proverbs 31:31 Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the
city gate.” Evelyn was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, and dedicated servant to the Lord.
Evelyn’s work on earth is now complete, now she can take her eternal rest.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday October 22, 2024, 11:00 am in the Adams Chapel.
Viewing will be held on Monday October 21, 2024, from 4pm to 6pm in the Adams Chapel.
