Mrs. Delores "Lois" Bell

Adams announces the passing of Mrs. Delores "Lois" Jamerson Bell, 81, transitioned Sunday, December 31, 2017 at her residence. 

Adams announces the Funeral Services for Mrs. Delores Jamerson Bell, 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 6, 2018 at St. John Baptist Church "The Mighty Fortress," 522-528 Hartridge Street, Savannah, Georgia 31401

Interment: Woodville Cemetery.

Delores Jamerson Bell was born on November 8, 1936 in Savannah Ga to the late Henry Jamerson and Queen Smith Jamerson. She attended St. Mary’s Elementary School, Cuyler Junior High School and graduated from Alfred E. Beach High School in 1954.  After graduation, Delores or “Loppy” as she was lovingly called by her friends attended Savannah State College now named Savannah State University.

Delores married her high school sweetheart, Willie J. Bell in 1956 and their loving marriage lasted for 54 years until his death in 2010. From that union was born two children, Michael Keith and Michele Karen.  Whenever you saw Delores, you saw a kind and caring person with a beautiful smile. She poured into her family and was indeed a modern Proverbs 31“virtuous woman”. She made sure breakfast was on the table every morning and a delicious hot meal was awaiting her family at dinner time. Along with her husband, she taught her son to treat others with respect and taught her daughter to seek to become a virtuous woman. Her children call her blessed. Delores was also a wonderful grandmother to her two grandsons, Brandon Michael and Jason Derek. They loved their “granny” as they lovingly called her and cherished the love she showered onto each of them.   

Her faith was very important to her and she sought to honor our Lord in all that she did. She grew up in Abyssinia Baptist Church and later in the 1970’s joined St. John the Mighty Fortress under the leadership of Pastor Emeritus Matthew Southall Brown. She served in Sisters in Service and was a member of the New Discoveries Bible Study. She continued her service under the leadership of Dr. George P. Lee, III serving in the H.E.L.P Ministry and singing in the Sanctuary Choir, now known as the Voices of the Mighty Fortress.   She served faithfully until her failing health prevented her from attending service.

Delores worked in Civil Service for a number of years and ended her career retiring from the Commissary at Hunter Army Airfield. Until her health prevented her from participating ,she was also a very active member of the Alfred Ely Beach High School Class of 1954 Alumni Chapter.  

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted children, Michael of Lawrenceville, Ga. and Michele of Savannah Ga., a loving and supportive son- in-law Maznyl Newsome, her loving grandchildren, Brandon Michael (Julie) Allen and Jason Derek Allen, one sister- in- law Ruby Brown, and a host of caring “adoptive” children, cousins and friends.
