Adams announces the passing of Mr. Bettye Jean Mincey Ellison, 81, who transitioned on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at her residence.

Adams announces funeral services of Mrs. Bettye Jean Mincey Ellison, 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Tremont Temple Missionary Baptist Church; Rev. Quinten Morris, Pastor.

​Viewing: Friday, 10:00 A.M.-6:00 P.M with visitation with the family from 6:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Interment: Magnolia Memorial Gardens.

OBITUARY:

Bettye Jean Mincey Ellison was the fourth child born to the late Maggie (Linder) and Ira Mincey on November 2, 1936 in  Statesboro, Georgia. She was a graduate of Williams James High School in Statesboro, she attended Savannah State College. She married Deacon Dan Ellison. They have nine children, thirty grand children, sixty great grand children, one great, great, grandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews, love ones, and friends .

Mrs. Ellison served in many capacities as a member of Tremont Temple Baptist Church, Quinton Morris is pastor. She was president of the Nursing Ministry, vice president of the Deaconess Ministry, teacher of the Youth Sunday School Class, member of the Hospitality and Silver Stand Ministries, song in the George J. Faison Choir  and was a member of the Evangelism Ministry.

She was also an active member of the Prince Hall Masonic Order of Eastern Star. She was past matron of Electra Chapter #1 O.E.S. where she served as chaplain. She was past matron of the First District of Georgia, a member of the Past Matron Council, and S.L. Givens Ct. #1.

Mrs. Ellison retired from Memorial Medical Center as an Operating Room Surgical Technician after 32 years of service. She received her certification from Memorial Medical Center in 1969.

On Saturday, December 16, 2017, Bettye transitioned from Earth to her Heavenly home.

She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Ira Mincey and eight of her siblings; Theodore, Ira Jr., Van, Willie Marion, Ronnie, Willie James, Johnnie Mae, and Bobby Joe. Leaving behind to mourn her memories, her brother Billy Mincey.

She is also survived by her beloved husband of 36 wonderful years , Dan Ellison; her children, Ronnie B. King (Anna)of Converse, Texas, Larry D. King, Sr. (Anita King) of Guyton, Georgia, Brenda Sims (Robert Sims)of Belleville, Illinois, Michael L. King, Dan K. Ellison (Cathy Ellison ), Diane Ellison Baker, Michael Ellison ( Naomi Ellison ), Sharon Ellison Frazier (Ronald Frazier), Kelvin Ellison, which all reside in Savannah, Georgia.
