Mrs. Annie Mae Riley Reddick, 89, had her transition on Friday, August 7, 2015 at Candler Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 15, 2015 at St. James A.M.E. Church located 632 E. Broad St.
Interment: Bonaventure Cemetery.
Public viewing will be held from 10:00 A.M.-6:00 P.M. on Friday, August 14, 2015 at the funeral home.
OBITUARY:
Mrs. Annie Mae Riley Reddick was born August 26, 1925 in Hilton Head Island, SC to the late John and Lilian Williams Riley.
She accepted the call to Christ at an early age when she became a member of Queen Chapel AME Church in Hilton Head, where she was very active as a youth.
After moving to Savannah, Mrs. Reddick joined St. James AME Church under Rev. W. W. Stephens. She was an active and faithful member of St. James AME Church for over 60 years and was recognized many times by her church for her outstanding and dedicated Christian service. A life-long member of the Sr. Usher Board, she was the Board's first female president after serving as secretary, financial secretary, and vice president. She also served in various capacities as a member of the Lay Organization, the Missionary Society, the August Birth Month Club and the Silver Foxes Senior Ministry.
Mrs. Reddick received her education at the historic Penn Normal, Agricultural and Industrial School on St. Helena Island, SC and subsequently taught at Chaplin Elementary School in Hilton Head Island, SC. Afterwards she attended Savannah State College then received her diploma in practical nursing from Wayne School in Chicago, IL. She worked as a licensed practical nurse at Memorial Hospital and was later employed as a Community Organizer with the Economic Opportunity Authority (EOA).
In 1948, she married the love of her life, Dea. Edward M. Reddick, Sr., and enjoyed forty-five loving and devoted years together until his death in 1993.
Mrs. Annie Reddick, a loyal, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, cousin, neighbor and church servant, exchanged time for eternity on August 7, 2015.
Her memory will be cherished by six children: Dr. Lillian Reddick of Savannah, GA, Edward Reddick, Jr. of Lithonia, GA, Sandra Davis of Beaufort, SC, Savannah M. Reddick of Savannah, GA, Grady Reddick of Savannah, GA, Michael Reddick of Atlanta, GA, and a granddaughter whom she loved and raised as her own, Joanna Reddick of Chicago, IL. She also leaves in memory one son-in-law, Dea. Willie Davis (Sandra); one daughter-in-law, Deborah Reddick (Michael); one doting granddaughter, Marissa Davis; three loving grandchildren, Terresha, Teaona and Grady Smalls; a very devoted niece, Sadie Mae Williams; a loving niece, Evelyn (Robert) Mitchell; one stepdaughter, Edith Mae Reddick; a special friend, Mrs. Edith Moultrie; devoted cousins, grand-nieces & grand-nephews, and a host of friends and other relatives.
