Mrs. Alreatha Jones Simmons, 90, had her transition on Thursday, July 24, 2014 under the excellent and professional care of Hospice Savannah at her residence surrounded by her loving family.



Funeral services for Mrs. Alreatha Jones Simmons will be held 11:00AM, Wednesday July 30, 2014 at St. Phillip A.M.E. Church located 613 MLK Jr. Blvd. Rev. Scottie Swinney, Pastor.

Interment: Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton/Long Island, NY.

Public viewing will be held from 10:00AM-6:00PM, Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at the funeral home.


OBITUARY:


Alreatha Jones Simmons, the eldest of two children born to the late Leroy and Susie Gooding Jones in the beautiful City of Daytona Beach, Florida on January 6, 1924.


She was educated in the Daytona Beach school system where she graduated from Campbell High School and later furthered her education by attending St. Augustine College in Durham, N.C. Her goal was to become a dietician.


On Thursday, July 24, 2014 the Lord called this mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt to her eternal reward; she had finished her course.


Preceding her in death are her parents, Leroy and Susie Gooding Jones, her husband, Oscar Simmons, Sr., a daughter and her sister, Evelyn J. Johnson.


She leaves to cherish her legacy of love and devotion, her son, Oscar Simmons, Jr. (Margaret) of Savannah, GA; David Simmons (Francine) of Hiram, GA; and Donnie Simmons, Hollywood, Fl., Ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
