Mrs. Alice Edwards Gibson

Mrs. Alice Edwards Gibson, 91, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, August 2, 2009 at home surrounded by her loved ones. Mrs. Gibson was born September 13, 1917 in Cobbtown, GA to the late Virgil and Ida Edwards.

Mrs. Alice Gibson was a faithful member of Connor's Temple Baptist Church for more than sixty-five years. She served on the Nurse's Corp, Mother's Board, Senior Mission and Friday Senior's Program.

She leaves to mourn her passing three sons: Erastus (Dorothy) Gibson, Earl (Sharon) Gibson, both of Savannah, GA and Harold (Brenda) Gibson of New Port News, VA; four daughters: Ida (James) Gregory, Clemette (Samuel) Johnson, Mary J. (Minas) Mobley and Deloris (James) Phoenix, all of Savannah, GA; one step-daughter, Annie Lee Gibson of Brunswick, GA; one sister, Rosa Mae Simpkins of Metter, GA; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren; twelve great-great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Pearl Booker of Willingboro, NJ and Vera Mae Byrd of Cobbtown, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives and friends.

Funeral service: 11:00am, Saturday, August 8, 2009 at Connor's Temple Baptist Church, 509 West Gwinnett Street, Savannah, GA 31405, Rev. Bennie Mitchell, Jr., Pastor. Viewing: 9:00am to 8:00pm and Visitation: 5:30pm to 6:30pm, both Friday, August 7, 2009 at Adams Funeral Services, Inc., 510 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah, GA. Mrs. Gibson will lie in state at the church Saturday from 8:30am until hour of service. Interment: Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Metter, GA.
